SESSION EXPLANATION
SESSION 1: A retrospective of the past 20 years—Key themes for safeguarding ICH
This session aims to examine the discourses and trends in safeguarding of intangible heritage by exploring representative keywords—Capacity Building, education, crisis, and Peace building—which have emerged and been discussed since the adoption and implementation of the UNESCO 2003 Convention.
SESSION 2: Endeavors for sustainable and inclusive social development
The maintenance and development of an inclusive and sustainable society requires the continuous concerns and efforts of all members of that society. Session 2 will cover research and project experiences that introduce effective cases of inclusive social development through ICH while discussing schemes of cooperation for sustainable development.
SESSION 3: The next 20 years—Connecting ICH to the next steps
Session 3 focuses more on the future of ICH. It will examine future directions and solutions using interesting topics—the urban context, post-humanism, culture technology and creativity—that are expected to contribute to safeguarding ICH for future generations.
SESSION 4: Key themes for safeguarding ICH in the Asia-Pacific region
The fourth session introduces various projects conducted in five different regions in Asia-Pacific. It also introduces the issues and discourse that have recently emerged in the region, and discusses the characteristics and relationships of ICH safeguarding in terms of region, environment, and culture.
